Focusing on the style of the ibizan country house, carles faus arquitectura has designed the ‘carmen house‘ within the city of dénia, in spain. The valència-based practice has used simple clear lines, controlled light and white color as starting strokes, in order to divert the attention from the surrounding environment to the spacious, bright interior.
Carles faus arquitectura has followed a rectilinear form, without too many deviations from the main axes of the house. the overall design has been influenced by the path of light that brigthens the space throughout the day. Upon entering, visitors face a large opening that overlooks the pool, and the dénia castle on a more diffuse plane. this window, which blurs the boundary between the interior – exterior relationship, is followed by a covered porch of the same dimensions, allowing the residents to sit outside even on hot days when sunlight is intense.
