The Towerhouse is located in the Rhine valley in Buchs (CH). The village’s building structure offers a great variety of styles, which exist next to each others. There are detached houses, blocks of flats, old farm houses, industrial buildings as well as official buildings without any obvious similarities. This is the area where we have built this low-budget house which is used by the the artist-couple as a studio and a house at the same time.
Because of its sculptural appearance and vertical shape, the little house wins recognition and can even be called a landmark in this residential area. The rooms are placed on three floors while privacy increases from bottom to top. On the ground floor there is the front door with a direct entry to the studio. The studio is affected by the fact, that it is higher than the rooms above. From this ground floor room one can enter the garden, which present some of the artist’s sculptures. A semi-floor offers sanitary rooms for visitors as well as a technical room. On the second floor there are the bedroom and the bathroom. The top floor cantilevers and gives the vertical house a surprising shape. On this floor the kitchen, living room an dining room can be found. The roofed terrace offers a spectacular view on the surrounding area and the mountains in the distance.
