The hiddenoffice architecture studio, in collaboration with the architect Valeria Bianchini, carried out a renovation and enhancement project of a 75sqm attic located in a residential building in Montegranaro (FM).
Before the intervention, the attic had a part of the sloping roof, where the minimum internal height, of about 90 cm, actually made the domestic space dark, not very functional and therefore not easily usable for the family life of a young couple.
The customer request was:
- To have a completely pleasant environment, avoiding cramped and hardly usable spaces;Increase the windowed areas to naturally illuminate the indoor environment;
- To have a covered outdoor space.
The proposed architectural intervention consisted in the partial demolition of the existing sloping roof, and in the insertion of a new regular volume, capable of satisfying the needs of space and light required by customers.
The new volume intersects with the existing building; it does not want to hide and conform to the present architectural language, but on the contrary, it stands in contrast and emerges, in its regular and easily recognizable geometry, and in the materials that cover it.
The sandwich panels with an aluminum finish are far removed from the traditional plaster found in the rest of the building.
This gesture made it possible to obtain a minimum height of 2.70 m for the interior spaces and the possibility of dedicating part of the new surface to a covered terrace, reachable from the living room through a large double sliding door.
As for the distribution of the interior spaces, it was decided to optimize the existing spaces, creating a plasterboard wall in the living area equipped with an integrated pellet fireplace and inserting a storage cupboard along the distribution corridor of the sleeping area.
In interior design, the focus was mainly on the choice of finishes and furnishings;in this sense the decision of the studio was to choose two types of finishes different from each other, but related and able to generate a continuous contrast in all the rooms of the house.
The materials chosen are porcelain stoneware in wood effect planks, cm 90x16and a porcelain stoneware with different black and white geometric variations of 20x20 cm
For the choice of furnishings, accessories and lighting fixtures, it was decided to emphasize the chromatic contrast, black and white, of minimal and linear furnishing components.
Located in the center of the room, the "freestyle" sofa by Molteni, flexible in its shape and overbearing in size, is the true protagonist of the living environment. Usable for every domestic need: from watching TV, reading a book in front of the fireplace, or simply relaxing while admiring the landscape of the Marche hills.
